Foxes get matching!
21.09.18
What we have been learning this week
In maths this week the children have been counting forwards and matching an amount to a digit. They are beginning to understand that a number can be represented in lots of different ways.
In English we have been reading "Commotion in the Ocean". Our work with this book began our discussion about rhyme, with the children looking at rhyming patterns and listening carefully to rhyming sounds. Also this week we have looked at fiction and non-fiction books, and this work will support the children next week as they begin to write their own non-fiction text.
As you know, Forest School started this week and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are really looking forward to going again next week.
What we shall be working on next week
Next week the children will continue to practise their counting forwards and backwards. They will also look at writing their own non-fiction piece of writing.
How you can help with home learning
Please read daily with your child. It really supports their learning at school and it helps to improve their phonics knowledge, spelling and writing abilities. It would also be helpful to look at capital letters and lower case letters, as well as looking at the alphabet. If you see any opportunity to count at home, please do encourage it. This may be counting the stairs up and down, counting the peas on their plate, etc, etc.
