School Staff

We have a team of highly skilled, experienced teachers and teaching assistants at St John's. They are passionate about working with children, encouraging them to develop a genuine love of learning and helping each child to achieve its full potential. There are plenty of opportunities for parents to meet with their chld's teacher including regular Parents' Consultation Evenings each term.

Paula Bliss

Executive Head

Paula is our new Head who brings her experience of teaching and school leadership to St. John's as well as her passion for, and knowledge of, infant education. Working alongside our Head of school she is making sure we are continuously improving and fulfilling our promise of helping all of our community to have open hearts and enquiring minds.

Marion Stevens

Head of School

Marion is our caring & fun-loving Head of School and Reception teacher. She ensures the transition from nursery to school is smooth so the children become happy and confident learners. All children thrive under her care.

Sophie Ireland


Sophie is our lovely SENCo & Home School Link Worker (HSLW). She works one day a week, often supporting parents, working with children and working alongside staff to ensure that all children access the best education.

Sara Thompson


Sara is teaching Year 1 for 1 day a week. She brings with her a passion for drama and literacy in the infant classroom.

Charlie Trussler


Charlie is currently teaching our Year 2 in Badger Class. She has some exciting ideas as a result of an interesting start to her career teaching in the Bahamas. Look out for a meerkat family in her class!

Marie Hill


Marie is teaching Year 1 and has a love for learning and outdoor adventures. She enjoys promoting inquiry based learning and has been a member of the guiding association for many years.

Philippa Shaw


Philippa has a long history of teaching at St. John's School over many years and that wisdom is now being spread between classes. You will often find her singing the latest song that she is teaching the children.

Lyn Eckstein is our HLTA with expertise in supporting children with Speech and Language across the key stage. With her lovely calm approach she helps develop children’s skills and confidence.

Linda Healey

Linda is another HLTA based in Reception. With her kind & caring nature, children are fond of her. She can be seen in all weathers, making sure Reception have the very best learning experience.

Lisa uses every minute to support the children in both Year 1 and 2, taking booster learning groups throughout the day. Lisa is a real asset, often coming up with great ideas to move the school forward.

Tracy has a long history with the school as a parent and has now become a valuable member of our team supporting children in class, and at breakfast and after-school club. Her caring and observant nature ensures all children are well nurtured.

Janice is our wonderful Catering Supervisor cooking and creating fresh meals onsite every day. With almost the whole school eating her tasty meatballs, sausages and curries and pizzas she is very busy!

William is our IT expert spending time in school updating devices & ensuring that e-safety is a priority. Recently he has been working on our emails to ensure communication is as smooth as possible.
