Working Collaboratively

Links with other schools

The school journey through to secondary schools

St John's is a feeder school to Waverley Abbey Junior School where the majority of our children move on to.  From there, children usually go to eitehr Weydon or Woolmer Hill.  St John's works particularly closely with Woolmer Hill, which holds a very similar ethos.

Working collaboratively with other local schools ensures that schools support one another, share good practice and ideas. Headteachers and teachers work together to provide the best possible education for our pupils.

St Johns is a member of the Haslemere TEAM Confederation. (TEAM = ‘Together Everyone Achieves More’)

The confederation consists of:

  • Beacon Hill Community School
  • Grayswood C of E Primary School
  • Shottermill Infant School
  • Shottermill Junior School
  • St Bartholomew's C of E Primary School
  • St Mary's C of E Primary School
  • Woolmer Hill Technology College

We also work collaboratively with six local small church infant schools:

  • All Saints C of E Infant School
  • Grayswood C of E Primary School
  • Puttenham C of E Infant School
  • St Andrew's C of E Infant School
  • St Mary's C of E Infant School
  • Witley C of E Infant School

We also meet regularly with Waverley Abbey C of E Junior School which is the main junior school that our children transfer to at the end of KS1 and the staff of the other feeder schools to Waverley Abbey. Head teachers and teachers meet to ensure that the transition from KS1 to KS2 is successful. Our reception teacher also meets with all nursery teachers to make sure all information is transferred and to get more of a picture of the children.

We are also part of the South Farnham Teaching School Alliance and welcome teaching students each year.

LInks in our community

The school has always enjoyed positive links within the community through Christmas and Summer Fayres, Carol Singing to the local elderly folk, support from the local businesses and of course all our links within the parish of St John’s.

Links further afield

St John’s along with other schools in the confederation support Nyabondo Primary School in Kenya. At the moment the children are raising money for a new classroom and much of this is being done through the Super School’s Council, where the school councillors from the different schools get together to discuss their plans.
