Learning in our Reception year at school is based upon the early years curriculum, it is the final year of the curriculum children have followed throughout their nursery years. At the end of the year children are assesed to be working towards the end of year goals or having met the early learning goals. It is aimed that most will have met the early learning goals by this time.

There are 7 areas of development:

3 of these are known as Prime Areas - Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional and Physical Development

Whilst 4 are known as Specific Areas - Literacy, Mathematics, Understaning the World and Expressive Arts and Design

We have developed a Progression of learning for each area throughout the Reception year
