Badgers meet "Chomp the Greedy Crocodile"!

22.09.17

What we have been learning this week

This week in maths, Badger Class has been continuing to learn about numbers and their value. We have been learning how to compare the value of numbers with the help of ‘Chomp the greedy crocodile’ and order them according to their value.

In English we have been learning to edit and improve our own writing by reading it out to our talk partners. Using a magnifying glass was fun and helpful to find all of our capital letters and full stops in our work.  We then started to edit our work, using our purple polishing pens.

As part of our topic "Fighting Fit", we have learnt about how animals grow and that mammals have babies. We have also been investigating the continents and oceans of the world and looking at where in the world we live.

What we shall be working on next week

Next week in maths we will be using our understanding of numbers to add and subtract. In English we will be writing diamante poems to learn how to use nouns and adjectives.

How you can help with home learning

To support your child at home you could ask them to spot numbers when you are out and about. Ask them how many tens and how many ones the number has. When walking up the stairs you could also count in 2s or 5s with your child. To support your child with their English please continue to read with them regularly and don’t forget to ask them questions about the text, the characters, what will happen next, etc.
