Badgers find the difference!

What we have been learning this week
This week in maths Badger Class has learned more about subtraction and how we can check that our calculations are correct. We can use a numberline to spot mistakes and find out about missing numbers.
In English we have been learning to write questions and interview our buddies from Rabbit Class. We loved chatting to them and finding out about what they like and their families. For Guy Fawkes, we have written a note to warn Lord Monteagle that there is a plot to blow-up the Houses of Parliament. We have also re-enacted the plot - luckily no one was really sent to prison or hung, drawn and quartered!
As part of our topic we have been learning about the Gunpowder Plot. We sequenced the events of the plot and learned about what life might have been like all that time ago. We will continue with this after half-term before finding out what happened during the Great Fire of London.
What we shall be working on next term
Next term in Maths we will be learning about money and recognising coins and notes. We will learn more about Guy Fawkes in preparation for our assembly. After that it’s off to Pudding Lane to find out about The Great Fire of London, Samuel Pepys and materials that we use to make things.
How you can help with home learning
To support your child at home please continue to support their reading and comprehension skills. Reading with your child is really important, especially if they hear you reading with expression and fluency. Over half-term I will ask the children to read three times to collect three "ticks" for the reading race. Obviously, we would never want to limit the children’s reading, so any more than this would be a bonus!
Please have a lovely, restful half-term.
