Rabbits enjoy lantern making

16.11.18

What we have been learning this week

We have read “Can’t you sleep little bear?”   And we have enjoyed making different sized lanterns - small, medium and large.  Can you spot which are which?

We have begun work on our Christmas play and dance, costume letters will be out shortly.

We are moving on with our letter learning and did lots of work on how to blend and segment them.

This week saw us trying really hard to play games which involved loosing one thing and finding out 'how much one less than we started with' was.

We really enjoyed our storytelling session, it was super to see so many of you there at stay and share afterwards - It was such fun! Telling a story off by heart helps with your story language.  We are so proud of you all as you are fantastic learners. Look at all the super conversations taking place with your families about your learning.

What we shall be working on next week

We will be working hard to practise blending of letter sounds in reading. We will be improving our letter formation and strengthening the muscles in our hands.

We will continue to explore what happens if you have less of something.

How you can help with home learning

Please give your child opportunities to read their reading book with you, little and often. When you do, please write in the reading diary to show that you have. We have also sent home the next set of letter flash cards to support the quick recall of the letter sounds. You can chop up the cards so you can move them around to make different sounds.

General information

A reading curriculum meeting is being held on Wednesday 21st to inform you of how reading is taught across the school and within the reception class.
