Rabbits welcome in Autumn!

What we have been learning this week

Wow!  What enthusiastic learners you are as you come running in to ask, "What sound are we learning today?".  So we tried to apply those letters to all our learning.

How many spikes does each hedgehog need?  Autumn hedgehog crafts!  You made your own, very tricky, balancing beams game - balancing on branches like baby barn owls!  Building with bricks. Using tweezers as bird beaks picking up the worms in the leaves, measuring to see who has the biggest.

You made us very proud this week as you began putting our storytelling lessons into practise to put on your own performance of "Owl Babies".  We read the story together with the help of some super actors. You then flapped around outside to put the story into practise. Next you made tickets to hand out, appointed a stage manager to check the tickets and then performed using actions for words we have used in other stories.  We're all so very proud of all your efforts and we can’t wait to see the next story!

What we shall be working on next week

Next week as part of our "Festivals" topic we will be taking part in an investigation into celebrations taking place in the school grounds over the weekend and the evidence left behind. Who was it? What were they celebrating? Why were they celebrating? What happened?

This is a whole school project so let’s keep it as a surprise to start the week off on Monday. I can’t wait to find out where the investigation will take us and how creative we can be.

How you can help with home learning

Please ask about our learning on nocturnal animals this week, let us teach you what we know. Ask us about our visitor - what animals did he bring? Please think about any "wow" moments you experience together and fill out a wow form to add to your learning journal - we love reading them and sharing in your fantastic learning.  Keep making patterns, maybe on a walk in the woods with stones, leaves and twigs,  with straws or with pasta shapes.
