What we have been learning this week

This week Fox Class has been working hard looking at their science topic of "Materials".  They have investigated different properties of materials and which materials are best for certain jobs. They have also been looking at the blossom trees and making pictures to show the signs of Spring and Summer.

In maths, we have been learning about making equal groups in preparation for multiplication. The children have been using objects and grouping them, learning how to write these ideas onto paper.

In English, we have been writing a recount about our fantastic trip to Windsor Castle. We have been learning how to sequence our ideas and create interesting sentences, using correct punctuation.

Also this week Fox Class started work on making clay shields in Design Technology which was great fun!

What we shall be working on next week

Next week we will be continuing to learn about multiplication and how to draw an array. In English, we will be writing a non-fiction report all about castles, hopefully allowing the children to see why kings and queens built them. The children will be continuing with their clay shields in Design Technology and also continuing to learn about the traditions of Islam in RE.

How you can help with home learning

It would be great if you could make equal groups of items at home with your child, using anything that you find lying around, eg, shoes, dried pasta shapes or pencils. Hopefully your child has been changing their books regularly this week and so reading with them at home is always a top priority.

General Information

Some children have not been practising their spellings at home. I would really appreciate it if you could check that your child has been copying the words correctly and practising them at home as much as possible. Many thanks for your continued support.

Have a lovely extended weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
