Badgers choose their animals!

18.05.18

What we have been learning this week

This week in English the children have been researching their chosen animal, and then writing their own non-fiction booklet about their chosen animal. They have been thinking about the structure of an information booklet including title, subheading, bullet points and photographs.

Badger Class have been researching animals through secondary resources and recording their research and using it in their writing. They have also been able to categorise animals into 3 categories  by looking at their diet. They now know what a herbivore, omnivore and carnivore is.

In maths we have been revising several mathematical concepts. The children have revised the inverse operation of addition and subtraction. They can now solve missing number problems by using the inverse and can also use the inverse to check their answer. The children have also revised multiplication and division and recapped the inverse of this.

What we shall be working on next week

In English Badger Class will be focusing on their comprehension skills and will be looking at persuasive writing. In maths the children will be revising money and making amounts of money in different ways.

How you can help with home learning

Please continue to practise the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times table including division facts.  "Hit the button" is a good online game to practise quick recall of multiplication and division.  Please also continue to practise spelling the KS1 common exception words, that you will find on the fish given for previous homework and, of course, do carry on reading at home.
