Badger Class have worked even harder this week!

25.05.18

What we have been learning this week

The children have worked extremely hard this week, but have thoroughly enjoyed completing their quizzes. In English they have been focussing on reading and developing their comprehension skills. They have been able to retrieve information from a book or text, order events, infer what that text means and look at the vocabulary the author has used and why.

In maths we have been revising several mathematical concepts. We have looked over estimating an answer by rounding.

Also this week, Badger Class have been practising their country dancing in preparation for the Village Fete.

In science, the children have been looking at food chains and the importance of them. They now know where the producer and the predator both sit in the food chain.

What we shall be working on next half-term

The name of our topic next term is Joyful Journeys, with the key question being, "How long does a journey take?". For Badger Class, of course, they will be embarking upon their last term at St John's, and it will be a time to reflect on their journey, and consolidate their learning through reasoning and problem solving.

How you can help with home learning

Please continue to support your child with their reading over the holidays. If possible, perhaps they could write a diary entry about something they did during the holidays?  Also, please continue to practise their 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables with them, including division facts.

Thank you for all your support over the last term - have a lovely break, and we look forward to seeing you all again on Tuesday, 5 June (Monday, 4 June is an INSET Day).
