Badgers get sporty!

03.03.17

Everyone was very pleased to be going to Woolmer Hill to enjoy some sports on Monday morning.  The activities all took place in the big sports hall, because of the weather, but they were very well-organised.  These events are arranged by Haslemere Confederation of schools which includes Woolmer Hill School as well as all the primary and infant schools in the area.  While the children from our school get to experience a range of sports, the Woolmer Hill students are able to act as 'Sports Leaders' and work with them.  Many thanks to Mrs Sapper and Mrs Fairhurst for accompanying us.

Our book focus this week has been "Michael Recycle" - one of my favourite books!  The children enjoyed learning about this 'alternative' superhero and wrote some good character descriptions.  We also learnt about recycling at home and discovered that we have different systems, depending on which part of the local area we live in!

Thank you to everyone for providing the children with such great costumes on Thursday, they were really good this year!  The children were full of enthusiasm and their costumes made for some inspired play at break time!

Next week in maths we will be learning more about money, giving change and problem solving.  You may also notice that the weekly spellings are slightly easier this week.  This is because we have finished the work on suffixes and are checking their knowledge of 'Common Exception Words' that are a statutory requirement to know by the end of Yr 2.

Finally, thank you so much for your kind donations to the RNLI.  We raised £39 and the children really enjoyed listening to our visitor.  Ask them to tell you about beach flags and dangers at sea!

Have a good weekend!
