Badgers Get Burning!

17.03.17

At last, Badgers have had their own Great Fire of London!  We took our houses out onto the little field next to the school house, set the boxes up, stood back and watched the flames.

The children were so excited and it was interesting to see the houses that had been so bulky, reduced to a fine ash.

I was pleased to note that all the children had retained much of the information about The Great Fire, despite their learning having taken place earlier in the term.

Thank you also, Rev Clare for joining us!

Badger Class have also been learning about non-fiction writing this week.  They have been brushing up on their knowledge of grammar, identifying nouns, verbs and adjectives.  They were all involved in quite challenging tasks.  Their individual report writing is also going well, and they chose to write about a whole host of things, including fish, horses and birds of prey, showing a really deep knowledge of their subjects.

We spent a messy but fun afternoon preparing for Easter.  We have begun to make Easter crosses out of modroc which for most of the children, was a new material to use.

We found out how to shape it around the sticks and we found it funny to think that the same material is used to make plaster casts in hospitals!

The children all enjoyed contributing to Easter bunting that is up in the classroom and they also painted some Spring flowers.

It is great to see their growing independence when undertaking these tasks.
