Foxes and the time!

22.06.18

What we have been learning this week

This week in maths we have been learning to tell the time to the hour and half an hour. The children have been using clocks to show how the hands travel, as well as drawing the hands onto clocks to show different times of half past and o’clock.

In literacy this week we have been sequencing the story of "Lost and Found". The children have enjoyed retelling the story in the puppet show area outside, as well as understanding how a story can be broken down into sections. They have used super similes to describe a setting as well as using their senses.

In topic lessons we have been recording our investigation in science, using comparative language. In RE the children have been learning how symbols are used in the Bible to describe God.

We have also been exploring space, understanding how the space race started and learning about Neil Armstrong.

Mrs Harmer has kindly been helping with the art work.

What we shall be working on next week

Next week is Keeping Safe Week. This will involve the children understanding how to keep themselves safe near water, on the roads and most importantly now, online. We will also have the Fire Brigade here to show us how to keep safe in the event of a fire.

In maths we will be learning about weight and beginning to compare weights. In literacy, the children will be writing their own version of "Lost and Found", involving a different animal.

How you can help with home learning

This week we have been continuing to think about one more and one less than a specific number. It would be great if you could continue this at home, preferably thinking about those bigger 2 digit numbers over 50. We have been using 100 squares in class to help the children to see the pattern - please feel free and ask to borrow one to use at home.
