Badgers and some true events!

08.06.18

What we have been learning this week

The children have been writing about true event this week, and they started by writing a recount about something they did in the school holidays. They have also written a detailed recount reflecting on their school trip to Brooklands Transport Museum. They have tried to include exclamation sentences into their writing, such as 'what a great day we had!'   And indeed we did have a fantastic day, as can be seen from these pictures from the day.

In maths we have revisited measurement. The children have learnt to measure accurately in centimetres and metres, and they have also been able to compare lengths and use their knowledge of the four operations to solve measurement problems.

This week has seen Badger Class practising their country dancing in preparation for the Village Fete tomorrow.

In art, we have also been looking at some transport art and developing our sketching skills by looking closely and carefully at the picture.

What we shall be working on next week

Next week the children will be completing their recounts from the school trip by editing and improving their work. They will also begin to plan their own journey story. In maths the children will continue to look at measurement, in particular mass and capacity.

How you can help with home learning

Please support your child with measuring by involving them with the cooking or baking at home. They could help you weigh ingredients or measure the liquid going into your recipe. It would be lovely if you could discuss the importance of measuring accurately with your child. Please continue to practise your child's spellings with them.
