Rabbits get into shape!

23.06.17

What we have been learning this week

Well, what a fantastic start to our week with a whole school trip to two truly enchanted places!

The Sculpture Park was a feast for our eyes with different sizes, shapes and materials and everywhere we looked we saw more and more amazing things. Then, at Thursley Nature Reserve, we took the opportunity to use our senses looking, listening and touching. It was also a very peaceful time with lots of concentration going on.

On a hot afternoon the shade of the trees was very welcome to have a whole school picnic, followed by a short walk on the boardwalk where we were able to see lots of dragonflies and, if you were very quiet, you were able to hear the bracken popping.

We also spent time under the trees bug hunting - making sculptures of mini beasts or bug hotels. Some of us even found a fairy door in the roots of a tree.

I hope the bugs like their homes!

We have written our thoughts about the trip to share with you at Celebration Evening.

Also this week, Rabbits, you have been the most helpful role models to our new children when they visited - sharing, showing them where to go if they need help, designing tracks for them to use. All this as well as visiting your own next class. Thank you children.

What we will be learning next week

Next week is our Staying Safe Week so we will be talking about lots of ways to keep yourself safe. There are visitors planned throughout the week to help us think about keeping safe in lots of ways. We will also be thinking about the shapes we might use when building our own wonderland.

Home learning

Could you go on a walk where you look for shapes around you?  Are they flat shapes circle, square, triangle?  How do you know it is that shape? Can you spot any 3D shapes - cube, cuboid, cylinder?

General infomation

Thank you again to parent helpers for your support on the trip this week!  You ensured the children had a magical day.
