Flying Foxes!

13.07.18

What we have been learning this week

The weeks are flying by and it's been yet another busy week!  Thank you all for making Sports Day such a fun family occasion. The children were fantastic and were such great sports, working well to support each other.

Back in the classroom, in maths this week the children have been comparing and ordering numbers according to their value. They have used different apparatus to represent numbers and explain which is greater and why.

In English we have been looking at non-fiction texts about penguins in preparation for writing one of our own next week.

In the afternoons the children have been learning about hot and cold parts of the world. They have been reading maps and globes, learning about which animals live in those hot and cold regions. They have also composed music using untuned instruments to represent hot and cold places.

What we shall be working on next week

Can you believe it’s the end of term already? There’s a busy week ahead with "Moving Up Morning" on Monday, a class party on Thursday afternoon and the Leavers' Service on Friday morning.

Normal lessons will continue as much as possible, where in maths classes the children will be using the skills that they have been learning through the year, and writing non-fiction reports in English.

How you can help with home learning

Please could you continue to read with your child each day and remember to ask them questions to check their understanding of what they are reading.

General information

I would be grateful if you could send library books back to school before the end of term.

Finally, please come along to our Art Exhibition on Thursday, 19 July between 2.30pm and 4.00pm where you'll be able to see our wonderful art work, and which you can purchase for £8. For further information, please see this week's newsletter.
