Badgers use their maths skills!

07.07.17

What we have been learning this week

This week in maths the children have been using all of the maths skills and knowledge that they have learnt this year to solve problems relating to "Celebration Evening" on Tuesday. They have been thinking about timings for the event, seating arrangements and the ingredients we will need for a special surprise!  We hope to see you there, so you can see all of the hard work the children have put into the Evening.

In English this week Badger Class have been very busy, learning their lines and practising for their "Alice in Wonderland" performance on Tuesday evening. It has been completely child-led and a joy to watch their confidence grow. They have thought about where they need to stand when performing, what props they will need, editing and adding in extra lines. They have been working very hard and the practising is coming along nicely.

Badger Class have also been busy making papier-mâché hot air balloons.  They were inspired by the balloons they saw when we read "The Great Round the World Balloon Race".  The children thoroughly enjoyed this and weren’t afraid to get their hands messy!

They have also been practising maypole dancing for their performance on Tuesday evening as well.

What we shall be working on next week

In English next week the children will be finalising the details of their performances and will start to write a persuasive invitation to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

In maths the children will be looking over time and multiplication.

How you can help with home learning

To support you child next week, could you please rehearse their lines with them, and help them in memorising their cues!  Also, you could quiz them about different times of the day. And, in order to consolidate their learning about time and duration, you could bring to their attention important times during the weekened and get them to tell you the time!

General Information

Next week’s Show & Tell is Gold group and will take place on Monday, 10 July.
