Badgers and Celebration Evening

14.07.17

What we have been learning this week

This week in maths the children have been recapping their 2x, 5x and 10x table knowledge and have been concentrating on learning the 3x table. They have been listening to Percy Parker songs to help them remember their times tables. If you ask your child, they might be able to sing a little bit of the song to you! To help the children with their learning they have been playing times table bingo, hit the button on the new iPads, and answering times tables challenges. They also used their measuring skills to make lots of jam tarts for the Celebration Evening.

In English this week the children continued to practise their "Alice in Wonderland" performance right up until the very last minute! They did extremely well on Tuesday evening - we were extremely proud of what they had achieved. It was a real celebration of their hard work and determination.  Badger Class certainly has some budding actors and actresses in the making, so watch out for their names in lights!

In DT this week Badger Class also practised their baking skills!  They were able to measure the right ingredients, read the instructions and work as a group to share the responsibilities. Tasty jam tarts were the end result - enjoyed by all!

What we shall be working on next week

Next week the children will be drawing their "Alice in Wonderland" learning to an end.  They will be involved in a range of art work, puzzles and fun!

We will also continue to think about times tables.

How you can help with home learning

At home you could ask your child to count in steps of 2, 5, 10 and 3, and then ask questions out of order, for example 4 x 3, 7 x 3.

General information

To finish off Show & Tell for the year, there will be no set group next week. If anyone would like to bring in something to show and tell, they can.

The children will be taking part in the talent show on Tuesday; please can you remind your child to bring any music, props, change of clothing if they need it.

The children will have their class party on Wednesday afternoon. This will be a lovely end of year celebration where the children can reflect on their time at St Johns, have a dance, play some games and a few treats.  You do not need to provide anything for this event.

However, can you please provide your child with a plastic bag so they can take their books home with them on Thursday.
