Rabbits create a masterpiece!

19.01.18

What we have been learning this week

First let us show you the amazing group project we did to create a whole class drip-painting, taking turns and learning from our first practise to create a fantastic masterpiece. Well done Rabbits - we now have a super collaborative piece displayed on the wall of the cabin!

This week also saw us focus on the diagraph "sh" and we found it at the beginning, middle and end of words.  We shopped for shoes, shells, shirts, sharks and fish, paying for them with cash. We also kept working on our knowledge of shapes, and put on puppet shows, found numbered shells to put in order and built shelters. We even practised our sounds on a letter ladder.

Rabbit Class also did some shape spotting this week in our art work as we looked at the work of Mondrian. He used shapes, lines and primary colours. I wonder which artist will be our favourite?

On Tuesday we went for a walk to look for the wonders of God’s world.  The sky was bright and the clouds flew by on a blustery day – we saw new growth even in cold weather. We found seeds and heard the beautiful birds singing. What a wonderful world!  Now we need to think about how we look after this world we have been given.

Well done Rabbit Class – you took time to appreciate the world around you.

What we shall be working on next week

Next week we will be reading a story called "Red Rockets and Rainbow Jelly" to look at how we all like different things but we can still be friends.  We will be telling subtraction number stories, and we shall continue to work on our shape knowledge.  We will learn "ng" and "th" which we find hard to say, so we will keep practising by sticking out our tongue when we say it!

How you can help with home learning

New word cards should come home today to help with practising knowing and being able to say without sounding out. Counting backwards will help with our subtraction.

General information

Please remember that as soon as your child is comfortable they can come into class on their own and put their things away for themselves.  This makes for a quieter, calmer start to the mornings for all the children as it builds their confidence and independence in a secure familiar environment.   Thank you.
