Rabbit Class and "Long, Long Ago...!"

23.02.18

What we have been learning this week

Welcome back from half-term and we are excited about our new topic, "Long, Long Ago".  We started this with the fairytale "Jack and the Beanstalk".  We enjoyed measuring beanstalks and using giant steps or small steps to measure distances. We also really enjoyed building castles and preparing our own big castle.

This week we also used our reflecting tool to look back at our learning and improve each piece we do. You are amazing Rabbits at using your letter sounds in your writing, and with increasing independence - just look at your holiday news writing!

Your work in maths is amazing too - you used your number knowledge when learning about coins this week. So, if you get a chance to look at coins in your money-box, see what you can find. Some of you then used your imagination tool to make your own shop with price labels for your friends to visit.

What we shall be working on next week

Yippee, next week it’s our favourite week of the year, Book Week!  We will be reading the book, "Mr Wolf’s Pancakes" which is full of fairytale characters and will remind us of another story we know really well.

There might even be a competition to write a letter from a character in the story!  We will be using this term's Value of forgiveness in our letter writing.

How you can help with home learning

We have been discussing acts of kindness during Lent so please praise us when you see our acts of kindness. You could also write it on a “Wow!” form to add to our learning journals. Please let us look at coins to see if we can sort them or identify them.

General information

A show and tell list should be in your child’s book-bag today.  Remember you can dress up as a book character for World Book Day next Friday, 2 March.
