Yr 2 learn all about time!

10.02.17

The children were able to remember lots of facts from their learning about history as well as tell me what they have enjoyed and what they would like to do more.  I have been most impressed by their "work ethic" and given them lots of positive feedback about how hard they are all trying.

This week we have been learning about time.

We learnt about seconds in a minute, minutes in an hour, right up to days in a year and days in a leap year.  A few of the children understand why we have a leap year but if you have time, do try and explain it to them.

Most of the children are able to tell the time using the o'clock, quarters and half past the hour.  We also did some practical work using the five-minute intervals.  This is quite challenging for all the children so keep talking to them about it at home.  Having analogue clocks, in this digital age, is also very helpful!

When we return next half term we will have a big push on reading comprehension skills, both reading and writing.  We will begin our maths work with some revision of earlier number work, then moving onto fractions, so anything that will support this at home is really valuable.

Have a lovely, restful half term - your children really deserve it!
