Badgers start learning about time

27.04.18

What we have been learning this week

In maths this week the children have been learning about time. The children are very confident with reading the time when it is "o'clock" and "half past", and we are now focusing on the time of 15 minutes, by using the language "quarter past" and "quarter to".  As this is a new concept to some, we are trying to practise reading the time at any point throughout the day.

In English this week Badger Class read the story "Mouse Look Out". This was the start of their story writing process. They then orally rehearsed the important and repetitive parts of the story and transferred this into a story map. The children then changed different parts of the story, such as the animals or the setting.

Also this week, the children have been busy planting. In science, they planned their own science experiment to find out what plants really need in order to grow and survive.

Badger Class really enjoyed their taster session from All Stars Cricket who visited school on Wednesday

What we shall be working on next week

In English next week the children will begin to write their version of the story, "Mouse Look Out", thinking carefully about the language they choose. In maths we will be focussing on multiplication and division.

How you can help with home learning

Please continue to practise counting in steps of 2, 3, 5 and 10. Also practice learning times table facts. Continue to read with your child at home, too, including asking them questions about the text. Get them to find proof of their answers by looking back and checking in their book.
