Patrons Scheme
We welcome contributions from everyone,
Parents, parents of ex-pupils, members of the community and businesses are warmly invited to join St John’s Patron Scheme – helping fund the school, it’s resources and activities for many years to come.
Patrons make a donation one-off, or annually to help fund the school.
Choose from three packages ‘Lifelong Learner’, ‘Trusted Friend’ or ‘Shine Bright’.
The ‘Shine Bright’ package is the more expensive package supporting long term investment plans and projects at the school.
St John’s Patron Scheme
The Patron Scheme is open to anyone who has a connection to the school or who simply has a passion for child centred education. The school particularly welcome:
• Alumni and former pupils who wish to give something back to the school that shaped them.
• Parents and families - past or present - who want to see every child’s light shine.
• Members of the community who share the view that this school is the heartbeat of the village supporting the shops, church, sports clubs and wider community.
Patrons receive an annual newsletter about how monies have been spent and are invited to some whole school events. Annually, we aim to invite Patrons to a Garden Tea Party in the school grounds to say a proper thank you.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all Patrons for their generosity and ongoing commitment to the school. These donations enable all our pupils to grow as lifelong learners giving them the grounding, strength, ability and confidence to let their light shine at our school.
How do I join the scheme?
Becoming a Patron is simple.
1. Pick your level of support and your donation package.
2. Fill in the form to register your interest and details for the scheme. Contact details collected here will only be used to share details about the Patron Scheme and associated invites and events.
3. Follow the instructions to make the payment.
Choose your package:
Lifelong Learner – enabling pupils to grow as lifelong learners, supporting classroom resources, pupil activities, classroom facilities and delivery of our early years and Key Stage 1 curriculum.
£50 per year or £100 per year.

Why does St John’s School need this scheme? Watch out – here’s the politics bit!
Despite the many achievements of the school, excellent results in phonics and maths, us wholly supporting every child so that they can let their light shine and our Governing Body being prudent and cautious with how we spend our allocated funding, money is getting tighter for small schools.
Incremental increases in funding in recent years are not matching the uplift in costs. There is a mismatch between what things cost in the here and now, and the allocated funding being given by the local authority. Schools like St John’s therefore need to be more creative about how they raise core funds.
Our Patrons Scheme helps us raise money to give the school more resources so that pupils can let their light shine!
Every contribution made through the Patron Scheme goes directly to supporting pupils and the school community. Funds are directed towards areas including:
• Extracurricular and enrichment activities - from arts and music to sport and outdoor learning.
• Resources, equipment, staff, improvements to school buildings and facilities.
• Mental health, wellbeing and support for pupils and staff.
All contributions, whatever their size, are gratefully received and make a real and lasting impact at the school.
