Online Safety

At St John’s, we teach online safety as an essential part of helping our youngest learners explore the digital world safely and confidently. The Department for Education highlights that children today grow up both on and offline, so schools must equip them with the knowledge and skills to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly.

In our infant school, this means helping children understand simple rules for using devices, recognising when something doesn’t feel right, and knowing who to talk to if they need help. Online safety is woven throughout our curriculum, particularly in relationships education and computing and is always taught in an age‑appropriate, reassuring way so children learn how to stay safe while enjoying the many benefits of being online.
