Pupil Premium
At St John’s, our core aim is to ensure that every child—regardless of their background or any challenges they may face—receives high‑quality teaching and learning, supported by a strong focus on wellbeing. We set consistently high expectations for all pupils, and our Pupil Premium strategy is designed to help disadvantaged children achieve their goals, including those who are already high attainers.
We recognise that each child’s circumstances are unique. Support is tailored individually, taking into account the specific needs of vulnerable pupils, such as young carers and those receiving help from children’s and family services.
You may be eligible for Pupil Premium now or in the future, if your family circumstances change. Please contact the school office if you think your child may qualify.
You may be entitled to claim if you receive:
- Income Support
- Income‑based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income‑related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you are not receiving Working Tax Credit and your annual gross income is £16,190 or less)
Working Tax Credit run‑on (paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit) - Universal Credit (if you applied on or after 1 April 2018 and your household income is below £7,400 a year after tax, not including benefits)
Schools are required to report on the use of Pupil Premium funding annually.
